Alabama Landfill Operator Certification Training Course
This three hour training course, offered during the Alabama SWANA spring and fall meetings, is required of all applicants for certification under the newly developed Alabama Landfill Operator Certification regulations. This course is developed and instructed by ADEM staff, and covers the technical, legal and operational requirements for landfills, with a special focus on the requirements that are unique under ADEM's Solid Waste regulations.
The Alabama Chapter of SWANA is proud to have been chosen by ADEM to provide the forum for this important training and is pleased to have been given the opportunity to make this available to our membership as part of our spring and fall meetings. We look forward to working with ADEM during future SWANA meetings to provide additional operator training opportunities.
Remember, as of April 15, 2010 ALL landfills open to the public must have a Certified Operator on-site whenever the landfill is open. ALL Certified operators are required to take the ADEM Landfill Operator Course once every three years. PLUS, depending on the type of landfill, Certified operators are required to take up to thirty hours of continuing education classes during each three-year licensure period.
Landfill Operators should rely on the Alabama SWANA Chapter to provide their Continuing Education needs. Our spring and fall meetings will typically provide 5-8 CEU's per meeting and we will work with the ADEM staff to make sure our programs qualify for as many CEU credits as possible.
Please check the Events page to see if the registration form is available for the next conference.
