The Alabama Chapter of SWANA
The Alabama Chapter of SWANA is dedicated to advancing the practice of economically and environmentally sound solid waste management in the State of Alabama. Our membership includes local and state government officials, regulators, solid waste managers, owners and operators of solid waste facilities, waste and recycling haulers, equipment and technology providers, and engineering and planning consultants.
The Alabama Chapter of SWANA provides a network of dedicated professionals to promote the exchange of ideas and information leading to the continued improvement of solid waste management for all of our communities. We carry out a variety of activities and programs to share information, provide continuing education opportunities, and provide practical and accessible solid waste training, technical support and professional assistance. Some of the programs that benefit Chapter members include:
Annual technical conferences with featured speakers on relevant solid waste topics
Alabama Landfill Operator Certification training courses
Legislative and regulatory updates
Solid waste facility tours
Partnership with SWANA’s national headquarters and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) to provide members with education, training and certification benefits
